Root Hairs:
  • Appearance: Look like fine, white, fuzzy strands clustered around the roots.
  • Location: Found right at the roots, where they meet the soil or growing medium.
  • Texture: Soft and delicate to the touch.
  • Behavior: Often appear when the plants are thirsty and tend to fade away after watering.
Mold:
  • Appearance: Looks like thick, cottony patches that can be white, gray, or green, and may remind you of a spider web.
  • Location: Can show up on any part of the plant, including the stems, leaves, and soil.
  • Texture: Feels dense and woolly, almost like cotton.
  • Smell: Often has a musty odor that’s easy to recognize.

✨ Key Difference: Root hairs are normal and appear only at the roots, while mold can spread anywhere and often comes with an unpleasant smell.
